Pongal is celebrated like a New year in Chennai. Lighting all over the places, Traditional Folk Music & Folk Dance with lot of other Traditional cultural activities are taking place all over Chennai, Tamilnadu, India for this festival. Here this is the Icat Design and Media College in Chennai which is celebrating Pongal festival, in which students and staff are participating together.
Students and their faculties are wearing traditional dresses of Tamilnadu, India, including lungi for men and sari for women (a wrap around on waist). One side the pongal food is preparing by the people in a traditional way with mud pot and wood fire and other side students are enjoying different performances performing by the students themselves.
Rangoli, one of the main decoration elements which has a certain role in every festival of South India, has it exclusive role in Pongal too. People use to make beautiful and colourful patterns design in front of door to welcome happiness and wealth. Pongal celebrated at the time when people harvested turmeric, rice, sugarcane and other crops. It is the main festival of Tamilnadu so students of Icat college here in Chennai celebrating it. It is kind of New Year and now it is a January 2018.

The best place to feel and experience about South Indian art is Dakshinachitra or Dakshina Chitra in Chennai, Tamilnadu. For South Indian art experienced it is the right place, to learn about Indian art especially south Indian art. The Dakshinachitra is a museum for displaying South Indian art as well as architecture. The have been maintaining and preserving the south India art flavor in it. The museum had been displaying Karnataka Art, Kerala Art and crafts, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh art and crafts including architecture in itself. It is the place you can feel the art and culture of south India including all four states of South India.
It was a photography tour of icat college students to feel the art and culture of South India and we found all this art & crafts, culture, architecture and performing art of South India at one place itself, that is Dakshinachitra. We started taking some photographs and I took some pictures and tried to convert into the vector format by using Adobe illustrator. This is an idol placed over there belong to Karnataka art and crafts, and also the horse sculptures kept over there, some paintings and crafts displayed in the Museum of Chennai. So I took pictures and try to create them as vector format. The South Indian Art in Vector format. This can be print as high quality in any size. All students went to marina beach to shoot photograph, it was a college assignment for L-4 first year students of advertising division. Students were shooting photographs for their DIIP module of II Semester in which they have to produce an advertise and info graphics by using the illustrations and photographs, and also produce output based on image manipulation. They have to use photographs shot by them-self for photo manipulation. All the students are working differently according to their subject.
